The article examines the concept and specific features of special economic knowledge in criminal proceedings. The author analyzes various approaches to defining special economic knowledge and offers his own definition, revealing their essential elements. The main characteristics of special economic knowledge are highlighted, including professionalism, scientific nature, systematicity, specialization, practical orientation, objectivity, constant updating, legal regulation, complexity, and purposefulness. The importance of special economic knowledge in criminal proceedings is emphasized, particularly in detecting and investigating crimes, collecting and strengthening evidence, conducting investigative actions, appointing and carrying out expert examinations, establishing the mechanism and consequences of crimes, developing preventive measures, and substantiating court decisions. A comparative analysis of special economic knowledge with other types of special knowledge is conducted, revealing their distinctive features. It is concluded that special economic knowledge is an essential element of the criminal process and is of great importance in detecting, investigating, and preventing economic crimes.
