This article provides a coherent history of the development of digital technologies and the use of digital devices and evidence in the practice of forensics. The history of the use of digital evidence has been studied by many international organizations and the experiences of foreign countries. The article describes the further development of digital forensics, starting with data recovery. Also, the history and development of the use of digital forensics and digital evidence is studied in 3 independent stages that are not similar to each other. Developments and achievements in each phase and shortcomings of these periods are also analysed.
