The article analyzes the problems associated with using the results of odorological examinations as evidence in criminal proceedings. The scientific, procedural, technical-tactical, and ethical aspects of applying the odorological method are examined. Particular attention is paid to the debate concerning the evidentiary value of odor identification results and the admissibility of such data in criminal proceedings. The positions of scholars supporting and opposing the inclusion of odorological findings in the system of evidence are analyzed. The author substantiates the possibility of evaluating odorological results in conjunction with other evidence in a case and emphasizes the need to improve procedural regulation and tactical safeguards to ensure reliability and objectivity.
