The article examines the methodological potential of phraseological units as a means of forming the linguistic and cultural competence of students in grades 5–9 in schools in Uzbekistan. The works of domestic and foreign researchers in the field of phraseology and methods of teaching the Russian language are analyzed, the linguistic and cultural aspects of fixed expressions are revealed, and methodological techniques and examples of tasks are proposed. It is demonstrated that systematic work with phraseological units contributes to the development of speech culture, intercultural communication, and the value orientations of schoolchildren.
