This article analyzes the impact of transnational security threats in Central and South Asia on interregional integration processes, using Uzbekistan’s approaches to security as a case study. The study aims to identify the risks posed by cross-border threats such as terrorism, illicit drug trafficking, and arms smuggling to the development of transport, trade, and energy connectivity. United Nations materials identify these threats as pressing security challenges for Central Asia.
