This article provides a comparative legal analysis of the national legal framework governing the notarization of inheritance and the approaches established in foreign jurisdictions. The study examines legal mechanisms related to the opening and acceptance of inheritance, identification of heirs, legal formalization of inherited property, and issuance of certificates of inheritance rights. It identifies the powers of notaries in formalizing inheritance rights, as well as the procedures for determining the place of opening of inheritance and issuing inheritance certificates under the legislation of Uzbekistan. The specific features of confirming and formalizing inheritance rights in the legal systems of Germany, France, Russia, and Kazakhstan are also examined. The comparative analysis demonstrates that the role of notaries in inheritance relations varies across legal systems: in some jurisdictions, notaries act as the principal procedural actors in confirming inheritance rights and administering estates, whereas in others, some of these functions are assigned to courts or specially authorized bodies. Based on the findings, proposals are developed to enhance legal certainty, improve information exchange, and increase the level of digitalization of notarial inheritance procedures in Uzbekistan.
