This article examines gender-related nominative units in English and Uzbek from a comparative lexical-semantic and linguocultural perspective. The study focuses on lexical items used to name, identify, characterize, or socially position male and female persons and analyzes their semantic groupings, structural properties, and functional differences in the two languages. The analysis demonstrates that English and Uzbek differ considerably in the linguistic representation of gender. English possesses a relatively extensive system of lexical and pronominal gender distinctions, including pairs such as man/woman, father/mother, actor/actress, king/queen and he/she, while Uzbek does not have grammatical gender and predominantly expresses gender through lexical means, contextual specification, derivational patterns, and culturally marked nominations such as erkak/ayol, ota/ona, o‘g‘il/qiz, yigit/qiz. At the same time, both languages demonstrate semantic asymmetries in the nomination of social roles, professional status, family relations, and personal characteristics.
