The article examines the linguocognitive and discursive nature of gender stereotypes from a comparative perspective, focusing primarily on English and Uzbek linguistic and cultural materials. Gender stereotypes are considered not merely as fixed social beliefs but as complex cognitive structures that are represented, reproduced, transformed, and negotiated through language and discourse. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between language, cognition, culture, and social interaction in the formation of stereotypical representations of masculinity and femininity. The study analyzes lexical units, phraseological expressions, proverbs, metaphors, professional nominations, forms of address, and discourse strategies that contribute to the construction of gender meanings. The comparative analysis demonstrates that English and Uzbek employ both universal and culture-specific mechanisms of gender stereotyping. In English, gender stereotypes are frequently manifested through lexical choices, metaphorical conceptualization, evaluative vocabulary, pronoun usage, and media discourse, while Uzbek material reveals a particularly strong connection between gender representations, family roles, social expectations, traditional values, and culturally established models of male and female behavior. The study argues that gender stereotypes are dynamic cognitive-discursive formations whose interpretation depends on linguistic context, cultural knowledge, communicative intentions, and changing social conditions. The findings contribute to comparative gender linguistics, linguoculturology, cognitive linguistics, and discourse studies.
