Annotatsiya

This article examines the theoretical foundations of military terminology from the perspective of contemporary terminology studies. It clarifies the concepts of term, terminology, and terminological system and identifies the principal characteristics of military terms as units of specialized vocabulary. The analysis demonstrates that the formation and functioning of military terms are closely linked to systems of specialized concepts, the requirements of professional communication, and established terminological norms. Systematicity, conceptual precision, normativity, and functional specialization are identified as the key characteristics of military terms. The article argues that terminological units should be regarded not merely as isolated words or word combinations but as elements of an integrated terminological system interconnected through semantic and hierarchical relations. Accordingly, the integration of structural, semantic, and functional approaches provides a coherent framework for describing the systemic organization and distinctive features of military terminology.
