Annotatsiya

This study evaluated the association between carriage of the CYP2E1 c2 allele, nutritional risk, and quality of life in patients with alcohol-related liver cirrhosis. The analysis included 60 patients: 39 with the c1/c1 genotype and 21 carriers of the c1/c2 and c2/c2 genotypes. c2 carriers had significantly lower body mass index and mid-arm circumference, as well as higher NRS-2002 scores. Nutritional deficiency was identified in 90.5% of c2 carriers compared with 59.0% of patients with the c1/c1 genotype, yielding an odds ratio of 6.61. The SF-36 physical and mental component scores were lower by 10.8 and 11.4 points, respectively, among c2 carriers. c2 carriage correlated positively with NRS-2002 and MELD/MELD-Na scores and negatively with serum albumin and the SF-36 physical component score. These findings support early nutritional screening and systematic quality-of-life assessment in c2 carriers with alcohol-related liver cirrhosis.
