The authors analyzed 20-year changes, regional characteristics depending on social factors, frequency, hygienic features, and the prevalence of EB among patients identified in the population of three regions of the Fergana Valley. The authors conclude that the studies revealed a certain relationship between actual dietary intake and the spread of echinococcosis. Low public awareness of the causes of EB required active sanitary and educational work aimed at preventing the disease and limiting its spread. In our opinion, the increase in the number of EB cases was also associated with violations of food hygiene and personal prevention rules.
