Sixty-six patients with chronic cerebral ischemia were examined, undergoing clinical, laboratory, and instrumental examinations. Serum uric acid levels were determined, as well as indicators reflecting the condition of the arterial wall and the severity of the atherosclerotic process. A significant association was established between elevated uric acid levels and changes in markers of atherosclerotic lesions in the arterial wall. These associations suggest a possible role for hyperuricemia in the progression of vascular disorders in patients with chronic cerebral ischemia.
