This article analyzes the outcomes of microdiscectomy performed using the METRx (Minimal Exposure Tubular Retractor) system in patients diagnosed with lumbar-sacral intervertebral disc herniation who underwent surgery between 2023 and 2025 at the Specialized Scientific and Practical Center of Neurosurgery and Neurorehabilitation at Samarkand State Medical University. Microdiscectomy using the METRx system reduces the invasiveness of the surgical intervention, while the use of tubular retractors preserves the posterior and lateral spinal structures, paravertebral muscles, and ligaments, enabling visualization of nerve roots, dura mater, and vascular structures, and allowing safe manipulation of microinstruments within the spinal canal. This approach contributes to maintaining spinal stability and facilitates early rehabilitation, improvement in quality of life, and restoration of patients’ functional and work capacity.
