One of the significant characteristics of COVID-19 is its ability to compromise the immune response, making individuals more vulnerable to other infections, including tuberculosis. Tuberculous spondylitis, an infection that affects the spine, often manifests in individuals with a weakened immune system. The immune suppression caused by COVID-19 increases the risk of developing tuberculosis spondylitis.
