This publication presents an analysis of our own results from clinical-neurological, neuropsychological, and neuroimaging studies devoted to the problem of mnemonic dysfunctions in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. To objectify these disorders, the content of neuropeptides was studied in cognitive impairments in patients with type 1 diabetes, while proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) was used to determine the concentrations of key brain metabolites: N-acetylaspartate (NAA); choline (Cho); creatine (Cr). Based on the study results, the need for continued research into the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying cognitive complications in type 1 diabetes in pediatric and adolescent patients is proposed.
