The main requirement for choosing forms of control in a foreign language is that they be adequate to the types of speech activity they test. With current control of knowledge at school, the teacher widely uses observation, that is, systematic study of students in the learning process, identification of many indicators indicating the formation of skills and competencies, and behavioral manifestations. Current and periodic testing of knowledge allows the teacher to obtain sufficiently complete information about the student: his level of knowledge, skills in a foreign language, attitude to learning, the level of his cognitive activity, consciousness, thinking ability; helps to independently solve various types of problems. This article discusses the principles of creating control tasks in foreign languages, their semantic-structural types, linguistic features, and various situations encountered when creating them.
