The article analyzes the ancient traditions of the Uzbek people reflected in fiction and the difficulties that arise when translating them into other languages. It examines ethnocultural elements such as rituals, ceremonies, symbols and mythological images that are an integral part of national identity. Particular attention is paid to wedding traditions, memorial ceremonies and rituals associated with natural cycles. The unique role of these elements in shaping the plots and characters of heroes in Uzbek literature is emphasized. The article reveals the main translation strategies, including adaptation, explanatory translation, transliteration and the search for cultural equivalents that allow preserving the semantic integrity of the text and conveying its aesthetic value. Literary translation is considered as an important tool for intercultural dialogue, contributing to the deepening of mutual understanding between cultures. In addition, the issue of the need to preserve the historical and spiritual heritage embedded in the texts for future generations is raised. The study demonstrates how ethnocultural elements can enrich a literary text and open up new opportunities for cultural exchange.
