This article examines the extent to which the problem of developing a culture of reading foreign-language literary texts within the educational space of Uzbekistan and the CIS countries has been researched. An analysis of recent studies in the fields of pedagogy, foreign language teaching methodology, and literary education is conducted. The main areas of research are identified as: the formation of reading literacy, the use of literary texts as a means of intercultural communication, and the development of students' reading competence. Underdeveloped aspects related to the comprehensive study of the reading culture of foreign-language fiction, specifically within the regional educational context, are also identified.
