Within linguistic studies of political discourse, phraseological units represent a crucial interface between lexis, pragmatics, and ideology. This article investigates the persuasive and evaluative functions of phraseological units in contemporary political discourse from a linguistic perspective. Drawing on phraseology theory, critical discourse analysis, and pragmatics, the study demonstrates how semi-fixed expressions encode evaluation, activate shared cultural knowledge, and guide audience interpretation. Using recent political speeches and official statements (2019–2025) as data, the article illustrates how phraseological units function as linguistic mechanisms of persuasion through semantic condensation, pragmatic implicature, and discursive repetition.
