This article examines syntactic linking devices and their functional features in English appositive constructions. The study analyzes grammatical, semantic, communicative, and intonational means of connection between appositive elements and the main component. Special attention is paid to the role of appositive relations, grammatical agreement, government, punctuation devices, and semantic proximity in the formation of syntactic relations. The article also highlights the functions of appositive elements in specifying, clarifying, explaining, supplementing, and enhancing the expressiveness of speech. The findings of the study are of theoretical importance for English syntax, text linguistics, and pragmalinguistics.
