This article provides a comprehensive analysis of proverbial phraseological units, focusing on their linguistic nature, structural-semantic features, pragmatic functions, and linguocultural interpretation. The study defines the position of proverbial expressions within the phraseological system and distinguishes them from proverbs and other fixed expressions. Various scholarly approaches are compared, and new conclusions are drawn from the perspective of modern linguistic theories, including cognitive and linguocultural frameworks.
