This article examines the issue of social class change in Charles Dickens’s novels Oliver Twist and Great Expectations through a qualitative and comparative literary analysis. The study focuses on how social class influences individual identity, moral values, and life opportunities in Victorian England. By analyzing the experiences of the main characters, Oliver Twist and Pip, the research reveals Dickens’s critical attitude toward rigid class divisions and social inequality. The findings show that Oliver Twist highlights institutional cruelty and the suffering of the lower class, while Great Expectations explores the psychological and moral consequences of social ambition. The article argues that Dickens rejects the idea that social status defines moral worth and instead emphasizes empathy, responsibility, and personal integrity. The study contributes to a deeper understanding of Dickens’s social criticism and demonstrates the continued relevance of class-related issues in modern society.
