This article examines and analyzes the development and role of the fable genre in European literature, as well as its significance in social life, through the perspectives of several scholars, including Hermann Lindner, Le Bossu, Heinrich Steinhöwel, and Karl Meuli. The views of Fritz Dichtl and Mia Lecomte on fable characters and their role in the genre’s enduring vitality are also examined, and relevant conclusions are drawn.
