This article examines the linguistic features of the number category in English and Uzbek proverbs from a comparative perspective. The study focuses on the grammatical, semantic, and stylistic roles of number words in proverbs, highlighting their cultural and cognitive significance in both languages. The research uses comparative linguistics methods to identify commonalities and differences in the usage of numbers in both linguistic traditions. Through the analysis of approximately 200 proverbs in each language, the study reveals that numbers in proverbs often carry symbolic meanings and are not merely indicators of exact quantities. While English proverbs tend to use numbers for comparison and generalization, Uzbek proverbs often emphasize cultural symbols and values through specific numbers. The findings contribute to the understanding of how language reflects cultural values and cognitive processes, as well as to the broader field of paremiology.
