This article examines lexicology and lexicography as two of the most significant branches of modern linguistics, which have gained particular relevance in the context of rapid social and technological transformations. In the era of globalization, the rapid development of information technologies, and the expansion of intercultural communication, the lexical composition of languages is constantly evolving and being enriched with new lexical units. This process poses new theoretical and practical challenges for lexicology and lexicography related to the study, systematization, description, and documentation of a language's vocabulary. The article provides a comprehensive overview of the major theoretical issues in lexicology and lexicography within contemporary world linguistics, analyzes current research trends and existing challenges, and discusses potential approaches to addressing these issues.
