This article examines the functions and peculiarities of the use of occasionalisms in modern Russian periodical press. The study analyzes the role of authorial neologisms in newspaper and journalistic discourse, their expressive potential, and the main linguistic mechanisms of their formation. Particular attention is paid to the stylistic, evaluative, and communicative functions of occasionalisms in media texts. The research demonstrates that occasional lexical units serve as an effective tool for attracting readers’ attention, expressing the author’s attitude, and reflecting social and cultural transformations in contemporary society.
