This article presents a scholarly and theoretical analysis of the lyric hero in classical English poetry, focusing on its poetic nature, sources of formation, and artistic-functional characteristics. Based on English poetry of the sixteenth–eighteenth centuries, the study examines the relationship between the lyric hero and the author’s personality, the maintenance of aesthetic distance, and the hero’s acquisition of universal significance. In the works of W. Shakespeare, J. Donne, E. Spenser, and J. Milton, a comparative analysis is conducted of how the lyric hero expresses individual consciousness, inner experiences, and moral-philosophical views. Using systematic-analytical, comparative-typological, hermeneutic, and formal-analytical methods, the study identifies the position of the lyric hero within the poetic structure. The results demonstrate that in classical English poetry, the lyric hero emerges as an independent poetic subject whose artistic possibilities are closely interconnected with the aesthetics of the era and literary traditions.
