The article provides a comprehensive analysis of the formation and development of semantic reading skills in foreign language teaching from linguodidactic, cognitive, and methodological perspectives. Reading is considered one of the central competencies in language learning, and the essence of semantic reading, its theoretical foundations, and principles of development are systematically examined. The study also explores the didactic potential of literary texts, as well as the role of modern educational technologies and digital resources in enhancing semantic reading. The results demonstrate the significance of semantic reading for conscious, critical, and creative foreign language acquisition.
