This article examines the poetic and ethical peculiarities of female character representation in the novels of Pearl S. Buck, a prominent figure of twentieth-century American literature. The study interprets the author’s female protagonists not as symbols of social protest but as central artistic figures that ensure the inner moral stability of society. Particular attention is paid to the representation of female identity through silence, patience, and self-sacrifice, which are associated with Eastern ethical concepts and analyzed in terms of their narrative and poetic functions. In addition, the functional relationship between female and male characters is explored, and the moral superiority of female protagonists is substantiated. The findings of the study demonstrate that in Pearl S. Buck’s fiction, the female image is shaped not according to a social model but within a framework of moral and poetic evolution. This approach allows Buck’s artistic worldview to be interpreted as a transnational literary phenomenon formed at the intersection of Eastern and Western cultural traditions.
