The article analyzes the figure of the lyrical hero in classical English poetry. The lyrical hero is regarded as a central artistic category that reflects the poet’s inner world, emotions, philosophical views, and social attitudes. The study examines English lyric poetry of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, including Shakespeare’s sonnets, John Donne’s metaphysical poetry, as well as the works of John Milton and Edmund Spenser. Comparative-analytical, structuralist, and hermeneutic methods are employed to conduct an in-depth examination of the lyrical hero’s poetic functions and ideological content. In addition, the relationship between the lyrical hero and the author’s image is explored, providing a scholarly basis for understanding the lyrical hero as an independent artistic construct.
