This study examines the multifunctional nature of puns (calembours) in medical discourse from linguistic, stylistic, and axiological perspectives. Puns are analyzed as sophisticated wordplay mechanisms that exploit polysemy, homonymy, and phonetic similarity to produce both humorous and rhetorical effects. The research demonstrates that in medical contexts, puns serve not merely as entertainment but as critical tools for emotional relief, professional identity expression, and humanization of doctor-patient communication. Through theoretical analysis and examination of medical puns, this study reveals how wordplay integrates cognitive, pragmatic, and axiological dimensions, contributing to stress management, ethical balance, and the preservation of humanity in medical practice. The findings suggest that puns function as semiotic reflections of professional values, affirming compassion, optimism, and resilience within the medical community.
