This article examines the oronyms and orographic terms found in Mahmud Kashgari’s Devonu Lug‘otit Turk (Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk). The toponymic system represents a distinct and complex layer of a language’s vocabulary, possessing specific linguistic characteristics. The article classifies oronyms into smaller groups, with particular attention to their etymology and contemporary denominations. The toponyms cited in the Divan serve as illustrative material for the study.
