This article provides a comprehensive study of the legal regulation of environmental expertise in urban planning activities based on an analysis of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On Environmental Expertise, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Strategic Environmental Assessment,” adopted on February 24, 2025. The relevance of the study is determined by the acceleration of urbanization processes, the expansion of construction activities in urban areas, and the fundamental renewal of legislation in the field of environmental expertise. The purpose of the article is to analyze the provisions of the new Law related to urban planning activities, reveal its innovations and advantages, identify the remaining problems in legal regulation, and develop scientifically grounded proposals for improving legislation. The study employs comparative legal, formal legal, systemic-structural analysis, and legal modeling methods.
