This article examines the lexico-terminological definition of the phenomenon of "occasionalism" in linguistics and its features. First, the similarities and differences of this term with the concept of "nonce word" in Western linguistics are analyzed. It also highlights the fact that occasionalism is a product of individual creativity, its temporary function, and its role in introducing semantic and artistic innovation. Examples are given of the use of occasional units in the context of the text, when they do not reach the level of the lexical norm, and sometimes turn into neologisms. The article also demonstrates the prospects for studying the phenomenon of occasionalism from the point of view of linguopoetics, psycholinguistics, and cognitive linguistics.
