This article provides a comparative analysis of the institutional and legal status of prosecutorial supervision during pre-trial investigations in criminal cases in light of international standards. It also examines the United Nations Guidelines on the Role of Prosecutors, recommendations developed by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), and relevant case law of the European Court of Human Rights. These international standards and approaches are compared with the current criminal procedure legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the judicial and legal reforms being implemented on the basis of Presidential decrees.
