Artificial intelligence has shifted from an experimental technology to a foundational component of modern SLA pedagogy. This article explores the cognitive, instructional, and structural transformation of language teaching. Including Vygotskian constructivism, Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, and Swain’s Comprehensible Output Hypothesis the paper evaluates how AI-driven tools personalize learning pathways by scaling individualized instruction and reducing student anxiety. Through a systematic review of empirical data, the analysis highlights the significant positive effect sizes of AI integrations on core linguistic competencies, with vocabulary and writing showing the highest retention rates in face-to-face and blended learning environments. However, the rapid deployment of these technologies introduces critical challenges, including cognitive outsourcing, linguistic bias, demographic homogenization, and data privacy concerns. To mitigate these risks, this article proposes a human-centric, hybrid pedagogical model that strategically splits instructional labor: leveraging AI for automated diagnostics and high-frequency production practice, while keeping human educators at the center for cultural context coaching. Ultimately, the paper outlines future horizons in immersive virtual reality (VR) simulations and emphasizes the necessity of developing formal AI literacy to foster equitable, globally balanced language education.
