This article is devoted to the history of the study of traditional folk games based on theories proposed by foreign researchers. The study and analysis of Central Asian folk games are discussed in light of the theories developed by scholars working in modern humanities disciplines, namely ethnography, anthropology, pedagogy, psychology, sociology, and cultural studies.
