The article examines the impact of changes occurring in various spheres of social life under the conditions of globalization on the growing interest of peoples and nations in studying the history of their own statehood. It highlights the increasing interest in the period of Russian imperial domination in Central Asia, as well as the diversity of interpretations of the events of that period. Alongside objective and impartial approaches to assessing historical events, there are also interpretations that contradict historical facts. Some researchers attempt to justify the conquest of Central Asia by the Russian Empire and the establishment of a colonial regime in the region. The article analyzes the role of the intelligence services of the Russian Empire in the conquest of Central Asia and the establishment of colonial rule, identifies the main directions of intelligence activity, and examines the significance of the information collected by intelligence groups in achieving the objectives and addressing the tasks associated with the conquest of the region. Based on the analysis, relevant conclusions are drawn.
