This article provides a scientific and practical analysis of issues related to improving the system for preventing extortion-related crimes, which is considered one of the priority areas of modern state policy. The study reveals the importance of targeted prevention mechanisms, the “Social Prevention Week”, and digital monitoring systems introduced by Resolution No. PP-1 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 3, 2025, in combating extortion. In addition, the article substantiates, through examples from judicial practice, such contemporary trends as the shift of extortion crimes into the digital environment and the sphere of crypto-assets, as well as the decreasing age of persons committing these crimes. The article puts forward scientific proposals and practical recommendations for crime prevention that should not be limited only to punitive measures, but should also include strengthening person-oriented special criminological registration, using the potential of the family and mahalla institutions, and enhancing victimological prevention.
