This article analyzes a pedagogical system for developing students’ foreign language competence based on a diagnostic approach. The role of pedagogical diagnostics in the formation and development of language competencies in modern education is revealed. The theoretical foundations of the diagnostic approach, its educational potential, and its significance in developing listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills are discussed. The research findings indicate that educational activities organized through a diagnostic approach significantly improve students’ foreign language proficiency.
