This study proposes a competency-based integrated instructional model for enhancing operational communicative competence among military cadets learning English as a foreign language. Drawing on contemporary theories of communicative competence and English for Specific Purposes (ESP), the model synthesizes task-based, content-integrated, and communicative pedagogical approaches to address the unique linguistic and professional demands of military contexts. Emphasis is placed on aligning linguistic skills with real-world operational tasks, maximizing learners’ ability to perform authentic military communication functions in English. The framework incorporates competency frameworks, needs analysis, and performance assessment to ensure cadets develop not only linguistic proficiency but also strategic and intercultural communication capabilities relevant to multinational operations. Empirical evidence from military language training programs and previous models of integrated instruction informs the model’s structure and implementation guidelines. The findings suggest that an integrated competency-based approach significantly improves learners’ communicative performance and readiness for professional interaction in English, underscoring its applicability for military educational institutions and ESP curricula design.
