The article is dedicated to approaches to developing speech competencies in future language teachers. Traditional teaching methods, their advantages and limitations, as well as modern approaches such as the communicative method, variable modeling, and the use of digital technologies are considered. The research is based on the experience of Uzbekistan, Finland, Canada and Japan. The results show that traditional methods are important for mastering basic skills, but their effectiveness increases when integrated with innovative approaches. Various modeling, interactive technologies, and project-based learning contribute to increased motivation, academic performance, and the development of students' professional competencies. The article emphasizes the need to combine traditional and modern approaches to improving the quality of pedagogical education, offering theoretical and practical recommendations.
