This article explores the historical, social, and cultural significance of Uzbek Jadid literature, which emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Jadidism in Turkistan, formed under Russian colonial rule, was aimed at improving literacy, fostering national awakening, and supporting modernization processes. The article examines the foundations of Jadid literature, efforts to implement a new educational system, and the movement’s role in preserving national culture and values. The works of prominent Jadid intellectuals such as Abdulla Avloni, Mahmudkhoja Behbudi, Abdulhamid Cholpon and Abdurauf Fitrat reflect themes of national awakening, justice, freedom, and the advancement of education. Closely tied to the region’s political and cultural reforms, Jadid literature contributed to the understanding of national identity, the development of international literary connections, and the dissemination of contemporary ideas. The article also analyzes the influence of other Muslim countries and Western cultural traditions on the Jadids, highlighting their efforts to enrich national culture. Jadid literature served as a foundation for national awakening and spiritual growth, playing a crucial role in increasing literacy levels and preparing society for modernity.
