The article examines, from the perspective of historical science, the process of the formation and development of small entrepreneurship in the Andijan region in 2016–2021 as a natural result of the market reforms initiated since Uzbekistan gained state independence in 1991. Based on statistical sources and regional data, the historical dynamics of small business participation in the sectoral structure of the regional economy are traced, and territorial disparities in the distribution of entrepreneurial activity across districts and cities are analyzed. Special attention is paid to the historical conditions and factors that determined the specifics of entrepreneurship development in this region, as well as to the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic as a historical event that affected the trajectory of small business development.
