The article examines the historical significance of written testimonies as sources for studying the period of the Second World War. Particular attention is given to the analysis of letters, diaries, and other epistolary materials held in archives. The article demonstrates how these documents help in researching historical memory, as well as the social and cultural aspects of the wartime period. It also discusses methodological approaches to using written sources in historical research. The work underscores the value of epistolary evidence for a deeper understanding of the personal experiences of those who participated in the war.
