Annotatsiya

Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming international commercial arbitration, offering unprecedented opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve decision-making quality while presenting simultaneously significant legal, ethical, and regulatory challenges. This research paper examines the current state and future trajectory of AI integration in arbitration, analyzing specific applications ranging from document review and legal research to predictive analytics and automated decision-making. The paper explores the dual nature of AI’s impact, its capacity to streamline arbitral processes through tools like large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP), alongside concerns regarding algorithmic bias, transparency, confidentiality, and the preservation of human judgment in dispute resolution. Particular attention is devoted to emerging regulatory frameworks, especially the European Union's AI Act and its implications for arbitration practice, as well as practical considerations for implementation in developing legal systems such as Uzbekistan. Drawing on contemporary scholarship and institutional guidelines, this paper argues that while AI presents transformative potential for international commercial arbitration, its deployment must be carefully adapted to preserve the fundamental principles of fairness, party autonomy, and due process that underpin arbitration as a dispute resolution mechanism.
