This article is devoted to the linguistic issues of the use of the terms arbitration and hakamlik in the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in particular in the laws “On International Commercial Arbitration” and “On Arbitration Courts”. It analyzes the content, lexical meaning, morphological structure, and phonological analysis of the terms arbitration and hakamlik. Since the content and essence of the terms arbitration and hakamlik are the same, the expediency of using the word hakamlik instead of arbitration is proposed. It is also justified to use the word hakamlik kelishuvi instead of hakamlik bitimi, and the word hakam instead of arbitration judge and arbitrator. At the same time, the circumstances related to the use of the word combination of arbitration clause are analyzed and relevant recommendations are developed. The specific features of the use of these terms in the national legislation are analyzed, and proposals and recommendations are developed.
