Modernization of all types of education in our republic is one of the most pressing issues today. In particular, the process of teaching foreign languages, especially English, is gradually being reformed based on modern approaches at all stages of continuous education. Developing lexical competence in A1-level students requires the acquisition of new vocabulary on various topics, as well as reinforcement through repetition. Currently, the new version of the "Guess What!" coursebook is being used to teach English in grades 1-2 in public secondary schools. This textbook has several significant advantages. In this article, we will analyze the potential of this textbook in developing the lexical competence of primary school students.
