This article presents opinions on the specific role of ethnonyms in the formation of toponyms. In this regard, attention was paid to the research conducted by scientists and the specific characteristics of ethnotoponyms included in the scientific heritage of Professor Tora Nafasov were analyzed. Scientist “Annotated dictionary of toponyms of Uzbekistan”, “Name of the village of Kashkadarya”, “Why is your village called that?” books and articles on ethnotoponyms were mentioned.
