The article discusses modern methods of teaching Russian to students in non-linguistic departments of universities in Uzbekistan. Particular attention is paid to the need to use active teaching methods in higher education institutions. It is noted that the use of the video method as an active teaching method activates students' cognitive activity through emotional perception, develops their ability to connect theory with practice. The article provides a description of the video method, analyzes various types of video inclusions in classes, as well as the integration of video materials with other active teaching methods. Modern teaching methods using computers provide independent creative activity of students. At this stage, it is important to use computer technology in each lesson. Educational institutions should pay more attention to investing in the higher education system, especially in the training of teachers involved in teaching Russian.
